Is GTA 6 better on PS5 or Xbox?
Rockstar’s site carries a “Plays best on PlayStation 5” badge, and the PlayStation Store marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced. That is marketing from a partner: Sony is understood to hold a marketing deal, and neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what the PS5 Pro enhancements are. The Xbox Store calls it “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”.
On performance, Rockstar’s Rob Nelson told visiting creators in August 2026 that console builds run at 30 frames per second, without promising a 60fps mode. Reviews on November 18 (reported) will be the first independent test. See GTA 6 reviews.
GTA 6 disc and boxed copies
There is no GTA 6 disc. The boxed Standard Edition holds a download code and goes on sale November 12 so buyers can preload. PS5 codes only work on an account from the same region; Xbox codes are not region-locked. Everyone needs room for the download, reported at about 210 GB: see GTA 6 file size.
Is GTA 6 on Game Pass or cloud streaming?
- Game Pass: no. It is a full-price purchase on Xbox.
- Cloud streaming: unclear. After The Verge reported a streaming deal on October 6, 2026, Xbox’s Matthew Ball said GTA 6 will not stream exclusively or to PC. Whether it streams to consoles at launch has not been confirmed, and the Xbox Store does not list cloud play.
Why is GTA 6 not on PC or last-gen consoles?
Rockstar has not explained it. Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg in May 2026 that, for a game of this size, the company is judged by how it serves its core console customers, and that the console-only launch is not tied to Sony’s marketing deal. Rockstar has released PC versions later in the past. The GTA 6 PC page has the history and the latest report.
GTA 6 platforms: common questions

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, on November 19, 2026.

No. It launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same day. PlayStation has a marketing deal and says the game plays best on PS5, but Xbox gets the same game.
Is GTA 6 on Game Pass?

Nothing is announced. Take-Two's CEO did not rule it out in May 2025, but there is no Switch 2 version.
Does GTA 6 come on a disc?
