GTA 6 delayed: every delay so far, and why
GTA 6 has been delayed twice, and not again since November 2025. Rockstar moved it from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, then to November 19, 2026. As of November 3, 2026 that date stands, and claims of a delay to 2027 are false.

GTA 6 is two delays in, and the current date has now held for a year. Here is each move in order, what Rockstar said, and how to tell a real delay from a rumour.

Both delays came straight from Rockstar on its Newswire, not through leaks. Take-Two’s share price fell after each one, which is part of why investors watch every earnings call for signs of a third.
Did GTA 6 get delayed again?
No. As of November 3, 2026, GTA 6 is still set for November 19, 2026. Every official signal since the last delay points the same way:
- June 25, 2026: pre-orders opened with the November 19 date on every store.
- August 7, 2026: Take-Two kept the date in its quarterly report and called pre-orders “unprecedented and astonishing”.
- Late August 2026: Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson told Famitsu the game “will definitely be released” on November 19.
- October 15, 2026: Rockstar released the launch trailer, ending on the date.
- November 12, 2026: preloads are scheduled for digital pre-orders.

Why was GTA 6 delayed?
Rockstar’s explanation was short both times. In November 2025 it apologised for adding time to “a long wait” and said the extra months would let it finish the game with the polish players expect. It did not blame any single feature, platform or team.
Outlets and analysts have offered other reasons, from the size of the world to the number of people and cars on screen. Those are reports and opinions, not Rockstar’s account, and we label them that way in the news.
Is GTA 6 delayed to 2027?
No. Several posts on X and YouTube in 2026 claimed a delay to 2027, sometimes naming March 2027. None came from Rockstar, Take-Two or a reporter with a record on Rockstar. How to spot a fake GTA 6 delay
- Check the Rockstar Newswire first. Both real delays were announced there before anywhere else.
- Look for Take-Two. A delay changes Take-Two’s revenue forecast, so it appears in an investor release.
- Distrust screenshots. A “leaked email” or store page image is easy to fake.
- Watch the stores. The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings change when a date changes.

No. The last delay was announced on November 6, 2025, when Rockstar moved the game to November 19, 2026. Nothing has changed since; the launch trailer and the November 12 preload both point to that date.

Twice. First from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, then from May 26, 2026 to November 19, 2026.
Why was GTA 6 delayed?
Rockstar gave the same reason both times: it needed more time to finish the game to the quality players expect. It did not name specific problems. Anything more detailed is a report, not Rockstar's explanation.
Is GTA 6 delayed to 2027?

Could GTA 6 still be delayed?
It would be very unusual this late. Review copies are reported to be with outlets, preloads are scheduled for November 12, and physical copies need to be in stores. The last scheduled update before launch is Take-Two's earnings report on November 9.
