GTA 6 Online: release date and what we know
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 without online multiplayer: Rockstar's store pages describe it as a single-player experience. Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 Online mode or date. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in September 2026 that multiplayer arrives in 2027, which Rockstar has not confirmed.

Online play made GTA 5 last more than a decade, so the absence of GTA 6 Online at launch is one of the biggest open questions. Here is the official position and what is only reported.
Does GTA 6 have online multiplayer?
Not on November 19, 2026. The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as a one-player game and its FAQ calls it a single-player experience with no multiplayer modes. Rockstar’s own GTA VI page does not mention an online mode at all.
Rockstar also told previewers in August 2026 that the single-player game has no microtransactions; it declined to discuss a future online mode. The ESRB listing still carries an in-game purchases notice.
The launch plan matches GTA 5’s history: the story game came out on September 17, 2013, and GTA Online followed two weeks later, on October 1, 2013.
GTA 6 Online release date
There is none. The only public timing comes from outside Rockstar:
- Reported: Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg on September 17, 2026 that GTA 6 multiplayer arrives “next year”, meaning 2027.
- Not confirmed: Rockstar and Take-Two have not commented on that timeline.
Treat 2027 as a reported window until Rockstar names one. We will cover any announcement in the GTA 6 news.
Will GTA Online keep running after GTA 6?
Yes, according to Take-Two. On its February 2026 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said he had “every reason to believe” the company will keep supporting GTA Online after GTA 6 launches, and GTA Online is still getting updates, such as the Kortz Center Heist in July 2026. GTA Online runs on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so players on platforms GTA 6 does not support keep a Rockstar online game.
GTA+ and GTA 6
GTA+ is Rockstar’s paid membership for GTA Online on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Rockstar lists a monthly GTA$500,000 deposit, bonus GTA$ on Shark Cards, the Vinewood Car Club and a library of Rockstar games among its benefits. The link to GTA 6 so far is a launch bonus:
- Offer: one month of GTA+ with a digital GTA 6 purchase, according to Rockstar Support. Boxed copies do not include it.
- Deadline: buy before November 20, 2026; on PlayStation, claim by March 31, 2027.
- Price after: reported at $7.99 a month in the US since an April 2024 increase; Rockstar’s page does not list a price.
- Catch: it renews as a paid monthly subscription unless you cancel it.
