Xbox players get GTA 6 on the same day as PlayStation. The open questions are about Series S, Game Pass and the cloud.

GTA 6 Xbox release date and price

  • Release date: November 19, 2026, on Xbox Series X and Series S. See the GTA 6 release date.
  • Price: $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate. The Ultimate Edition Upgrade costs $20 on its own.
  • Preload: from November 12.
  • Boxed copies: a download code, not a disc. Xbox codes are not region-locked, unlike PS5 codes.

Will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?

The Xbox Store labels GTA 6 “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”, so Series S is fully supported. Rockstar has not published resolution or frame-rate targets for either console. Rockstar’s Rob Nelson said in August 2026 that console builds run at 30fps. Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick said in November 2024 he was “not really worried” about Series S. Check storage too: a 512 GB Series S has well under 400 GB free, and the game is reported at about 210 GB (GTA 6 file size).

Is GTA 6 on Game Pass?

No. The Xbox Store sells GTA 6 at full price with no Game Pass label. In 2024, Zelnick said putting a premium-priced new game into a subscription on day one would push players into the subscription, and that Game Pass deals would not change Take-Two’s decisions.

Can you stream GTA 6 on Xbox Cloud Gaming?

On October 6, 2026, The Verge reported that Microsoft had secured exclusive cloud-streaming rights. A day later Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said GTA 6 “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”. Whether it streams to Xbox consoles at launch is still not confirmed, and the store does not list cloud play.

GTA 6 Xbox vs PS5

Both get the same game on the same day. PlayStation has the marketing deal, the “plays best on PS5” line and the PS5 Pro label; see GTA 6 on PS5 and all GTA 6 platforms.
