GTA 6 purchase intent hits a record 29% of US console and PC players, Circana says
Circana says 29% of US console and PC gamers plan to buy GTA 6, the highest purchase intent it has recorded for any game. The figure comes from its PlayerPulse survey, published October 28, 2026, and measures stated intent, not forecast sales. It is Circana's figure; Rockstar and Take-Two have not given sales or pre-order numbers.
Three weeks before launch, survey data put a number on how many US players say they will buy GTA 6. The figure is from Circana, not from Rockstar or Take-Two.
GTA 6 Circana survey: the numbers
- Survey: Circana’s PlayerPulse.
- Who was asked: US console and PC gamers. Mobile-only players are not included.
- Result: 29% plan to buy GTA 6, close to one in three.
- Record: Circana says that is the highest purchase intent it has recorded for any game.
- Comment: Circana’s Mat Piscatella called the launch a rare cultural and commercial moment for the industry.
What the GTA 6 purchase intent figure does not tell you
Intent is not sales. The survey measures what players say they plan to do, and it is not a sales forecast. Rockstar and Take-Two have not given sales or pre-order numbers.
The closest official word on demand came from Take-Two on August 7, 2026. On its earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick called GTA 6 pre-order levels “unprecedented and astonishing” but gave no figures, as covered in our report on that call.
The next official checkpoint is Take-Two’s earnings report on November 9, ten days before launch.
