GTA 6 Extended Look: 26 minutes of gameplay, first on Netflix

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a roughly 26-minute gameplay video, premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, and reached Rockstar's YouTube channel six hours later. Netflix said it was captured entirely from in-game PS5 footage, and its Top 10 data counted 31.1 million views in the first four days.

Rockstar announced on August 6 that its Extended Look at GTA 6 would premiere on Netflix, with YouTube six hours later. Some fans criticised the Netflix window as a paywall, but the video drew a large audience on both.

GTA 6 Extended Look: times and what it shows

  • Length: about 26 minutes.
  • Netflix premiere: 3 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026.
  • YouTube: Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the GTA 6 site at 9 p.m. ET.
  • Footage: Netflix said it was captured entirely from in-game PS5 footage.
  • Scenes: a drug deal gone wrong, a diner robbery, swamp airboats, scuba diving, a slow-motion aiming ability, and signs of a morality system.

Press previews from a hands-off demo in July, including IGN and the New York Times, went live the same day. The video came one day after Rockstar’s statement on the August leaks; see Rockstar’s statement on the GTA 6 leaks.

GTA 6 Extended Look Netflix views

Netflix’s Top 10 data, reported on September 1, counted 31.1 million views between the August 27 premiere and August 30.

  • Rank: the most-watched film on Netflix that week.
  • Margin: about 8 million views ahead of the runner-up.
  • YouTube: coverage of the data noted the YouTube upload passed roughly 17.7 million views over the same period. That is a separate count.

GTA 6 microtransactions and generative AI

Kinda Funny’s hosts said Rob Nelson answered “no” when they asked about microtransactions and generative-AI use during their preview visit. GameSpot and others then reported the same.

  • Microtransactions: none in the single-player game, by that account.
  • Generative AI: not used, by that account.
  • Online: Rockstar declined to discuss any future online mode, so the pledge does not cover it. See GTA 6 Online.

Every official video is listed on GTA 6 trailers, and the game launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
