GTA 6 ESRB rating is M for Mature 17+, and a PEGI 18 listing appears

GTA 6’s age ratings arrived in the first days of October, about seven weeks before the November 19, 2026 launch. The ESRB rating is confirmed by the rating body itself; the PEGI detail is reported.

GTA 6 ESRB rating: M for Mature 17+

• Rating: M (Mature 17+).
• Platforms listed: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
• Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol.
• Compared with GTA V: the same seven descriptors.
• Notice: In-Game Purchases.

Store pages and Rockstar’s site switched from “Rating Pending” around October 1.

Some outlets read the missing “Users Interact” notice as a sign that GTA 6 has no online mode at launch. That is an inference, not something the ESRB or Rockstar has said. Rockstar has not announced an online mode; see GTA 6 Online.

GTA 6 PEGI 18 rating and the pulled summary

PEGI published an 18 rating on October 2, 2026, along with a detailed content summary. This part of the story is reported.

• What the summary covered: according to Video Games Chronicle and PC Gamer, it described violence, drug use, nudity and sex scenes.
• Removal: PEGI took the detailed text down soon after.
• The badge: outlets say the 18 rating itself stands.
• Official: neither PEGI nor Rockstar has confirmed the pulled wording.

What the GTA 6 age rating means for buyers

The ESRB descriptors match GTA V’s exactly, so the content warnings are in line with the previous game. Parents can check the full descriptor list on the ESRB’s own site.

The ratings say what is in the game, not how good it is. Reviews are reported to go live on November 18, one day before launch, though Rockstar has not confirmed that; see GTA 6 review embargo.

The full rating breakdown is on GTA 6 age rating, and reviews will be tracked on GTA 6 reviews.
