GTA 6 age rating: what is GTA 6 rated?

Every published GTA 6 rating sets the age at 17 or 18 and over. Here is each rating, with what is official and what was only reported. For what critics think of the game, see GTA 6 reviews.

What is GTA 6 rated?

• ESRB: M for Mature 17+, official on the ESRB’s own site.
• PEGI: 18, shown on the UK PlayStation Store; not yet in the PEGI database.
• Australia and New Zealand: R18+, as reported from local store listings.
• Shared ground: the ESRB and PEGI descriptors both cover violence, sexual content and drugs.

GTA 6 ESRB rating: M for Mature 17+

The ESRB rates GTA 6 M for Mature 17+ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Store pages and Rockstar’s site switched from “Rating Pending” to the M rating around October 1, 2026.

• Content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol.
• Interactive element: In-Game Purchases.
• Compared with GTA V: coverage of the rating, including Screen Rant’s, notes that the descriptors match GTA V’s.
• Online: some outlets read the missing “Users Interact” notice as a sign there is no online mode at launch. That is an inference; the store pages already describe GTA 6 as a single-player experience. See GTA 6 Online.

What is the GTA 6 PEGI rating?

• UK PlayStation Store: shows PEGI 18 with the descriptors Violence, Sexual Content, Drugs and In-Game Purchases.
• PEGI database: a search on November 3, 2026 returned no GTA 6 entry, so the PlayStation listing is the official place to see the PEGI rating for now.

The pulled GTA 6 PEGI summary

On October 2, 2026, PEGI published an 18 rating with a detailed content summary, then removed the detailed text the same day. VGC and others reported that it described graphic violence, frequent drug use, nudity and sex scenes. Outlets say the 18 badge itself stands; neither PEGI nor Rockstar has confirmed the pulled wording, so we do not repeat its detail.

GTA 6 rating in Australia and New Zealand: R18+

Australia and New Zealand list GTA 6 as R18+, and their store listings mention sex scenes, PlayStation Universe reported. That matches the 18 and over level of the PEGI rating.

GTA 6 rating and in-game purchases

Both the ESRB listing and the PEGI descriptors on the PlayStation Store flag In-Game Purchases. Rockstar’s Rob Nelson said in August 2026 that the single-player game has no microtransactions, as GameSpot and others reported. Separately, the US Xbox Store sells an Ultimate Edition Upgrade for $20; the editions and prices are on GTA 6 editions and GTA 6 price.

When GTA 6 comes out, and on what

The rated versions are the ones on sale: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, from the GTA 6 release date of November 19, 2026. The ESRB listing covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series only, and no PC version has been announced.
