When was the last GTA released?
The last numbered Grand Theft Auto is GTA 5, released on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, on PS3 and Xbox 360. Its later versions bring the same game to other platforms; the most recent, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, came out on March 15, 2022.

Take-Two said in August 2026 that GTA 5 has sold in more than 230 million units and the series nearly 475 million. These are sell-in figures: copies shipped, not copies bought.
GTA 6 release date: the next Grand Theft Auto
GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloads from November 12. Rockstar first gave a 2025 window, then delayed it twice; see GTA 6 delays and the GTA 6 release date.
There is no PC version at launch. GamesBeat reported, citing four sources, that one is planned for the first quarter of 2027; Rockstar has not announced it. See GTA 6 on PC.
GTA 6 also returns to Vice City, the setting of 2002’s Vice City, now in the fictional state of Leonida; Rockstar’s copy even names a Vercetti Estate, after that game’s lead, Tommy Vercetti. More in GTA 6 location.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6: Rockstar’s release pattern
Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a GTA game, but Bloomberg reported that finishing it pulled most of Rockstar onto it and delayed GTA 6.

- GTA 5 on PC: April 14, 2015, about 19 months after consoles.
Both reached PC after consoles, so a later PC release for GTA 6 would follow Rockstar’s own pattern.

Will GTA 6 be the last GTA?
Nothing points that way. No GTA 7 has been announced, but Rockstar’s heads of development told Bloomberg in October 2026 that the next project should take less time, because they will keep the current engine, tools and team. See GTA 7 release date.
