Vice City in GTA 6: where it is and how it compares to Miami

Vice City is back as the centre of GTA 6, this time inside a wider state Rockstar calls Leonida. The whole state and its other five places are on our GTA 6 map and location page.

Is GTA 6 in Vice City?

Yes. Rockstar’s tagline for GTA 6 is “Vice City, USA”, and Vice City is one of six places it profiles on its GTA VI site. Its November 6, 2025 notice, which set the GTA 6 release date of November 19, 2026, described the game as a return to modern-day Vice City in the “sprawling state of Leonida.”

Where is Vice City in GTA 6?

Vice City is the main city of Leonida, a fictional US state. Rockstar has not published a full map as of November 3, 2026, so there is no official view of the whole city yet.

GTA 6 Vice City neighbourhoods

Rockstar sells Vice City as America’s sun-and-fun capital, still glamorous decades after the 1980s. The places it names:

• Ocean Beach: pastel art-deco hotels and white sand.
• Little Cuba: known for its bakeries.
• Tisha-Wocka flea market: knock-off brands.
• VC Port: billed as the cruise-ship capital of the world.
• Southside Vice City: home of the PTT Youngin$ gang compound, named in Rockstar’s edition copy.

The edition copy also names a Vercetti Estate, a callback to Tommy Vercetti of 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Vice City’s people, from local legend Boobie Ike to the rap duo Real Dimez, are in GTA 6 characters.

Is GTA 6 in Miami?

Not by name. Vice City is fictional, and the Miami link is a comparison, not something Rockstar states:

• Ocean Beach resembles Miami Beach and South Beach, with its art-deco district.
• Little Cuba resembles Little Havana.
• VC Port echoes PortMiami, which markets itself as the “Cruise Capital of the World.”

Reporting backs up the link. Bloomberg reported in 2022 that early plans were narrowed to one Miami-inspired city, and in October 2026 that the team’s first research trip to Miami was in 2015.

GTA 6 and Miami: what Rockstar has done there

• Wynwood Walls: in October 2026, Wynwood Walls announced a partnership funded by Rockstar that gives Miami-Dade residents free museum entry through 2028. It also unveiled 10 murals based on GTA 6 artwork, by artists including Tristan Eaton, Atomik and Queen Andrea.
• Stockyard murals: Dazed reported, via GamingBolt, that Rockstar hired more than 50 street artists for the game’s Stockyard murals, inspired by Miami’s Wynwood district.
• Downtown sign: a “Welcome to Vice City” sign on the roof of Miami’s Kaseya Center was also reported. Rockstar has not confirmed it.

Is GTA 6 set in Florida?

Not by name. The state is Leonida, which is compared to Florida, and Rockstar’s own copy even calls it “the sunshine state” in lower case. Its other places line up with Florida regions too: the Leonida Keys with the Florida Keys, and Grassrivers with the Everglades.

To see Vice City in motion, Rockstar’s Extended Look and launch trailer are listed in GTA 6 trailers. New official details land in our GTA 6 news.
